Amercing: An intuitive and effective constraint for dynamic time warping

چکیده
Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) is a time series distance measure that allows non-linear alignments between series. Constraints on the in form of windows and weights have been introduced because unconstrained DTW too permissive its alignments. However, windowing introduces crude step function, allowing flexibility within window, none beyond it. While not entailing multiplicative weight relative to distances aligned points along warped path, rather than being direct function amount warping introduced. In this paper, we introduce Amerced (ADTW), new, intuitive, variant penalizes act by fixed additive cost. Like weighting, ADTW constrains warping. it avoids both abrupt discontinuities allowed limitations penalty. We formally ADTW, prove some properties, discuss parameterization. show simple example how can be parameterized achieve an intuitive outcome, demonstrate usefulness standard classification benchmark. provide demonstration application C++ Herrmann(2021)[1].

Dynamic Time Warping An intuitive way of handwriting recognition?
Automatic handwriting recognition has had the interest of researchers for decades. Although there are various applications for which the technique is already used in daily life, a number of problems still has to be solved. At this moment, one of the biggest problems is the low user acceptance: the systems are not accurately enough, and moreover, the mistakes that recognizers make are usually no...
متن کاملUsing Dynamic Time Warping for Intuitive Handwriting Recognition
This paper discusses the use of Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) for visually perceptive and intuitive character recognition. In particular in forensic document examination, techniques are required that yield results matching a human user’s expectations. In our approach, the goal is to retrieve a set of best matching allographic prototypes based on a query input character. Since DTW compares each pai...

Time series are a ubiquitous form of data occurring in virtually every scientific discipline. A common task with time series data is comparing one sequence with another. In some domains a very simple distance measure, such as Euclidean distance will suffice. However, it is often the case that two sequences have the approximately the same overall component shapes, but these shapes do not line up...
متن کاملAN EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY CONSIDERING TIME-COST TRADE-OFF AND CONSTRAINT RESOURCE SCHEDULING USING NONLINEAR INTEGER FRAMEWORK
Critical Path Method (CPM) is one of the most popular techniques used by construction practitioners for construction project scheduling since the 1950s. Despite its popularity, CPM has a major shortcoming, as it is schedule based on two impractical acceptance that the project deadline is not bounded and that resources are unlimited. The analytical competency and computing capability of CPM thus...
